Chapter 1: Brief Burberry history

Burberry was founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry opened a store in Basingstoke England. Burberry really started making a name for itself in 1870 by selling outdoor attire. Burberry was the orginal then the company switched it to Burberry's after customers worldwide started calling it Burberry of London. The Burberry logo was developed in 1091 the logo consist of an Equestrain Knight and contains the Latin word Prorsum meaning fowards, registered as a trademark.



















In 1914 during the war the officers wore Burberry trench coats this made Burberry even more popular. Burberry was an independent company until 1955 when it was taken over by universal stores. In 1998 Burberry's changed its marketing name to Burberry. May 2001 Christopher Bailey joined Burberry as the creative director. Now of days Burberry is mostly known for its trench coats and has stores worldwide and in third party stores.
